What is new in Windows 10

Windows 10: Windows 10 operating system is based on the Windows 8, so you will get similar interface as you see in Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. But there are several new features included with Windows 10. Some of those new features are

Microsoft Windows 10 New Features

#1. Start Menu Is Back

Windows 10 Start Menu: After a huge demand Microsoft has finally add a fully functional Windows 7 style start menu with some extra features in Windows 10. You can use both start menu and start screen in Windows 10. By default start menu is enabled at the time of installation. But you can also activate the start screen in Windows 10. Start menu of Windows 10 contains all the program entries similar to Windows 7 along with live tiles from the start screen.

#2. Metro (Modern) Apps Run in Windowed Mode on Desktop

In Windows 10, all the metro apps (store apps) run on desktop mode similar to other software instead of full screen as in Windows 8. When you open a program it opens in Windowed mode having title bar and all the title bar options like maximize, minimize, restore, close buttons are there.

Except this title bar buttons (options), all metro apps also contain a new "..." button which opens the "App Commands" menu. This new menu contains all options which were present in Charms Bar such as Search, Share, Settings etc. It also has a "Full Screen" option to use the metro app in full screen.

#3. Virtual or Multiple Desktop

Multiple Desktop Features of Windows 10: Windows 10 has added a multiple desktop features in Windows 10. On Windows 10 taskabr you will get a new button named "Task View" to create multiple desktop. Just click on that button or press WIN+TAB keys together from keyboard and you will get a new screen on your desktop where you can add another desktop (Virtual desktop).

#4. Subtle Changes in Windows Theme and UI

Some of minor changes are there in Windows UI. They are
  • Thin borders in Program Windows.
  • New shadow effect in Windows border.
  • Some New Icons for This PC, Network, Homegroup, Explorer etc are introduced.
  • New Home Page contains shortcuts to favorites, frequent folder and recent files.

#5. No Charms Bar On Desktop

Charms Bar Of Windows 10: Charms bar of Windows 10 is only available for touch enabled devices. It will no longer available in Desktop and laptops.

#6. Improvement In Command Prompt

Command Prompt of Windows 10: Microsoft has added some extra features in the command prompt of Windows 10 such as text wrapping on resize, ctrl hot keys etc.

#7. New ALT+TAB Interface

When you press the ALT+TAB key together (from keyboard), on the switcher screen, you will get a full screen interface containing large picture of running programs.

#8. Improved Aero Snap Feature

Aero snap feature was introduced with Windows 7 which lets you maximize, minimize, resize program window using a simple drag-n-drop to screen corners. This snap features is improved in Windows 10 and you can snap programs into quadrants, so that you can use multiple programs at the same time on a single desktop.

#9. Notification Center

New Notification center is showing different notification pop-ups in right corner of the screen.
