But let me tell you that, Start Screen is still exists in Windows 10. But when you do a first time install (fresh install) of Windows 10, the new start menu is enabled by default. You need to manually enable that start screen for Windows 10 by disabling the active start menu.

  3. Check for Updates but let me choose whether to download and Install them: This will check for the updates automatically but ask your confirmation about downloading and Installing the Updates. It will not download or Install update automatically.
  4. Never Check for Updates (Not Recommended): This will not check the update for your Windows 8 system.

4. Choose Your required option and click on OK or Apply (Which is available).

What is Windows Update In Windows 8 And Windows 8.1

Windows Update: Windows Update is a service of Microsoft which is used to provides new facilities called as Updates like service packs and patches to its operating systems and other Microsoft software.

Windows update can also update drivers for popular hardware devices of the windows system.

This is an easy and free way to make our PC safer and running smoothly. Windows update are available as free from Microsoft. We don't need to buy, We just install them by downloading from Microsoft.

Different Modes Of Windows Update In Windows 8.1 and 8

Windows Updates: By default PC running with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 install the updates automatically. But we can also stop the automatically updates in Windows and manually install them as per our need. We can also uninstall the updates of Windows 8.1 and Windows 8. These are the 4 modes of installing updates in Windows 8.1/8.

  1. Install Updates Automatically (Recommended): This will automatically download and install the updates whenever your PC is connected to Internet. It will not ask for your Confirmation about Download and installation of updates.
  2. Download Updates but let me choose whether to install them: This will automatically download the installation package from the internet whenever your PC is connected to internet but ask you whether you want to install the updates or not. After confirming you it will install the updates.
  3. Check for Updates but let me choose whether to download and Install them: This will check for the updates automatically but ask your confirmation about downloading and Installing the Updates. It will not download or Install update automatically.
  4. Never Check for Updates (Not Recommended): This will not check the update for your Windows 8 system.
